Everyone including the strongest of us has struggled with low self-esteem at some point or the other.

While it is easy to put on a brave face once in a while, lack of confidence in specific areas of life such as in the workplace have been attributed to being some of the cause of underperformance, depression and ultimately the loss of a career.

One of the most vital reasons as to why you need to be self-confident at work is because self-assurance has been shown to be one of the reasons people rise in their career.

To be able to lead, you have to be assured that your strategy and line of thought is the right one.

Self-doubt inhibits growth.

It is impossible to perform confidently if you don’t trust in the authenticity of your own ideas.

Some other benefits of self-confidence at work;

  • ·Self-confidence enhances performance. Confident people trust their decisions and are more likely to perform relatively higher.
  • Confidence is key to excellent communication. You will be unable to state your complaints or even stand up for yourself if you always second guess yourself.
  • Confident people are motivators. Happy people make happy colleagues. Confident colleagues will bring a whole lot of positive energy in an otherwise tense atmosphere.
  • People who are confident are more likely to grow relatively faster than their counterparts. This is associated with the fact that when promotions are made available, confident people will stick up for themselves and state why they would be the perfect fit for the job.
