This is a common statment that I am told on a regular basis. Sometimes it is worded is slightly different as, “I do not think Hypnotherapy will work on me because I cannot be Hypnotised“.
On this page will page I will answer both of questions. Starting off with a little role play…
If I stood in front of a group of people and said to them: “put your hand up if you would like to have more confidence, less stress, sleep better or be able to eat smaller portion sizes?”
All hands would go up in the air because who want some of that right?
If I then told the group “to reach your goal you would have to put your hand into a box, perhaps feel a little pain, but the solution to what you wanted was right inside”.
80% of the hands would go down.
If I asked those people why they dropped their hand, they would tell me, “I didn’t THINK I had to do something” and, “I assumed YOU were going just to FIX ME or give me a pill to swallow.”
They thought I could make their problem go away like magic!
Those people believe they will wake up one day and their problem will have miraculously gone away. So if I ask them for a certain amount of effort, then they do not want to know.
Those people put things off.
They have lots of things that they should do in their life but don’t do them and so not doing something else is not a huge deal to them.
They convince themselves one day they will get around to solving their problem or that someday it will just go away by itself.
Of course, us and them all know this is not going to happen, and so those people will have the problem forever because they think it is going just to go away or they believe a pill is a solution.
Unless you have a real diagnosed pain, pills are not the solution.
If you are lucky pills will help hide the symptoms, but they do not take away the cause. The real cause is what you are afraid of.
The 20% of you that kept your hand up are the ones willing to take the leap of faith.
A switch of possibilities was triggered in your mind, something resonated, and you are prepared to take the leap of faith.
You understand this and can benefit from hypnotherapy because you are open minded to the opportunities.
Everyone has to take the leap of faith when they go beyond their comfort zone, and so it’s only natural to think ‘what if this doesn’t work for me?’
But it does not stop them.
That is the difference between the 80% and 20%.
The 80% think:
“I do not want to try it because what if it does not work?”
“I am not going to try anything else because I have tried so many things and what if Hypnotherapy does not work?”.’
Hypnotherapy is not going to help these people because they have already made their mind up.
Nothing I could say will change their scepticism and I could have hundreds of clients testimonials on this success stories page and they will still find a reason on why Hypnotherapy cannot work for them.
The 20% Are Willing To Give Hypnotherapy The Benefit of Their Doubt
If you are one of the 20% who kept your hand up and is willing to take a leap of faith and do something about their problem, then I look forward to working with you.
